Genetic Testing
Many Canadians are affected by age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a condition that often progresses without noticeable symptoms.
Macular degeneration testing is completed using a simple cheek swab provided in clinic. The test evaluates your risk of developing or advancing to advanced AMD. In addition, it can aid in creating a treatment/preventative plan tailored to you. We strongly recommend testing for those with a family history of the condition or those over the age of 55. While there is no cure for AMD and the damage is irreversible, early detection and treatment can help prevent further vision loss. At Cranbrook Vision Care, our dedicated team is committed to providing effective care to help protect your vision for years to come!
